Secret Colors in AJ Classic and How to Get Them

Animal Jam Classic has many secrets known to a select few dedicated Jammers. From the map's secret room to item glitches, hidden colors are not unheard of in the newer AJ Classic community. The hidden True Magenta color is especially prevalent in today's AJ community. However, what many new Jammers don't know is that True Magenta is not the only secret color to grace the “Change Your Look” menu. True Magenta's current location has swapped back and forth with an old fan favorite- Icy Blue.

In the early days of Animal Jam, True Magenta (also known as raspberry) was the only hidden color in a limited twenty-color palette.

Jammers could obtain this hidden color by clicking along the bottom right corner of the color palette.

This remained until 2011 when Animal Jam expanded its options with 20 new colors. Along with this, Icy Blue was added to the repertoire of nifty secrets and replaced the hidden position of True Magenta.

Immediately upon its introduction, Icy Blue became a staple of Animal Jam fashion, pushing True Magenta out of the minds of Jammers.

Although True Magenta was left largely forgotten, Jammers could still obtain the color during this time via a glitch. Unfortunately, the tedious and unreliable nature of this glitch often left Jammers frustrated. These factors led to True Magenta being completely unused, aside from the dedicated few.

Although the exact date and reason remain unknown, a change was eventually made that allowed jammers to once again obtain True Magenta, this time by clicking the top edge of the black color.

Despite its return, True Magenta stayed relatively unpopular until the magenta glitch was discovered in 2017. This glitch turned clothing items completely magenta. The color became more mainstream as players dressed up their animals with the cool new glitched magenta items. True Magenta was the perfect color match. Because of this newfound popularity, Icy Blue fell out of the spotlight.

Eventually, the switch was made again, with True Magenta taking back its position in the bottom right corner. It's unknown exactly why this was changed.

So what happened to Icy Blue? For a while, it seemed like it was going to be completely lost. Lucky for Jammers, fellow archiver Rav3n Pawz has discovered a way to color your animal Icy Blue in 2023!

  • First, go to your settings and set your display’s zoom to 125%

  • Then open Animal Jam Classic, and make the window as small as possible.

  • After that, click the lavender in the bottom right corner, and the glitch will give you Icy Blue instead of True Magenta.

Although a little more tedious to obtain now, it is still possible for those who want it. Jammers can only hope that eventually, Icy Blue will get a new place on the palette that is easier to find.

Which of the two colors is your favorite? Let us know in the comments!

Happy jamming!
