There are numerous ways to keep yourself safe in Animal Jam Classic, especially when it comes to keeping safe around the bots, these can also apply to Animal Jam Play Wild. You can:

Have a complex password.
Only buddy the Jammers you know.
Only engage with your buddies.
Change your password regularly.
Don’t share your password with others.
If you come across a server with bots, report them and move to a different server.
