Liza's New Land (Part One)

Liza’s New Land (Part 1 of 2)

Silent sounds of ocean calmly splashing, small but beautiful navy waves clashed together as a perfectly straight horizon was formed. Liza looked ahead  into the abyss, the clear sky, free of phantoms, free of everything! The calming sound of water lapping around her wooden boat bobbing around in the infinite pool of water... After a long month of keeping the residents of Jamaa safe, Liza decided to take a break and set sail. Greely insisted that she should not go away from Jamaa Township - it was almost as if he knew something she didn’t, but Liza decided she needed this holiday. As she held up a rusty old telescope behind her, the silhouette of Jamaa Township was gradually getting further and further away. A sunset lighting was painted in the sky, as the stars of the night began to roll over; signifying an end to the day. Liza fell straight asleep, lying within the boat, one paw dangling above the slightly calmer ocean..

LIZA..... LIZA..... LIZA.... One mysterious voice echoed around her head…

“AHHH!!” She screamed. Instantly, she woke up alerted to the mysterious voice she was hearing. Precious light leaks circled around the backlit clouds, it was morning. Confused at what it could’ve been, Liza decided to ignore it and grab her telescope. She panned across the identical horizon until a strange blob came to her attention. Maybe a tiny little island? It was a stone base with dappled patches of grass and lichen smothered across. Curious, Liza swung the sails of her boat as she was propelled along to the mysterious mini island. As the boat bounced off this small island, Liza grasped onto a small palm tree and hauled herself on there. What a strange little island out here! Patches of grass vividly stood out from their backdrop as Liza strolled through the overgrowth. Suddenly, something caught her attention. Like the smell of burnt bread hovered around her.

“Hey, I don’t remember having toast this morning…?”.. However, it didn’t take long for her to realize the smoke rising up from above her! Smoke! Could this be a fire? Unknowingly shocked at the sight she kept running and running until she bumped into a strange object. Trying to regain her balance after being knocked over, she carefully staggered upright whilst hearing a concerned voice.

“Hold on a second!! Who’s there?! Show yourself! I’m not afraid!” Liza grabbed her telescope and held it out pointing it at different directions for self-defense.

“I’m here” the voice replied. Liza stood back as the shadowed creature approached her from behind the bush. As the creature kept coming closer Liza held her telescope out ready for action.

“I’m not here to hurt you?! Please don’t be scared” the voice said. “My name is Leilani.”

“L-L-Leilani” Liza stuttered. Now in sight this creature known as ‘Leilani’ was actually an Arctic wolf. She had the most beautiful pattern on her fur, with a grassy Mohawk full of the most colorful flowers, crafted by only a true artist. Leilani smiled happily at Liza.

“But who ARE you? And where is THIS?” Liza questioned whilst waiting patiently for a reply.

“This? This is Moku’ahi! A dormant volcano currently half underwater. Until it ever erupts again, we are all stuck on this small volcano top. When it does erupt though we guarantee it will be huge and the whole long lost land will rise!” Leilani explained. Liza was clearly shocked at this as she had no idea this new land even existed! She looked below into the infinite blue water, seeing how massive the volcano was, and it was even built up, with statues of ancient alphas carved into the slabs of rocks molded to the seabed.

“What even is this place called? It’s beautiful!” asked Liza.

“Moku’ahi..” Leilani said before being briefly interrupted by an odd sizzling sound. It was then that they both saw lava cascading down the volcano sides. The ancient volcano of Moku’ahi was erupting...
