Silver Moon Academy Book 1: The Curse of Silver Moon Chapter Eight

Chapter 8

Amy, Denaé and I were sitting in our dorm, thinking. Astron was also there, but virtually. I had him up on my phone. He was going to help us crack the case.

“I have an idea.” Denaé spoke up. “It is not a great theory, but it is still something.” I shrugged. “Let’s hear it!” She blinked at me. “Violet is constantly talking about how much she absolutely hates school. Do you think that could be a motive to try and shut the academy down?” I nodded thoughtfully, considering this.

“Well, even if the school did shut down, her parents could make her go to Mira’s or homeschool her if they were desperate.” Astron pointed out. Good point. “She might not have thought of that though.” I commented. “If she is desperate.” Amy cleared her throat.

“Just before the lights went out, she came into the science classroom.” Amy recalled. “She could have done that, perhaps.” It was true. She could have hacked into the system and caused a timed breakdown. Or she could have set it up so it would break the circuit some time after she left the office.” There was a pause as we all thought about this idea.

“Could it be Evica?” Astron asked after a little bit. “I mean, she is creepy and suspicious.” I laughed. “I think busting the lights, stealing some clothes and causing a false alarm is a little stretching it for her. She would probably just rip up the uniforms, steal everyone’s backpacks and take away all the makeup from EVERYONE’S ROOMS so that she would be the only beautiful one in the whole school!” This caused my friends to laugh. Amy turned to me, indicating she had an idea.

“Casella perhaps?” She asked, looking at me. I agreed. “I was thinking the same thing.” I informed her. “She seemed really mad at her brother for accusing her, as if she had something to hide.” This seemed to be the most logical answer, and we studied it for a little bit. We were talking a little more about how she could have accessed the dorm keys, when there was a firm knock on the door.

“Come in!” I called. The door opened and there was the fashion teacher, Miss. Blaire.

“Hello girls!” She greeted us, cheery and bright. “Marie and Harris just got these new uniforms! Now next full dress we can all wear them!” She placed a stack of three uniforms on the floor. “Mrs. Harris picked those ones out for you three.” I smiled at her. “Thanks!”

The cheetah dipped her head and backed out of the room, shutting the door behind her.

I reached forward and picked up one of the uniforms. So did Amy and Denaé. That was when I noticed something odd about the one I chose.

“Hey…” I began. “Mine has a loose button!” Just like the one I had in the first place. Amy gasped.

“So they are the same ones. Whoever stole them, knew who owned which one, and returned them.” This caused a long silence. But who took them? How did they get them back into the office? My head was spinning with questions.

That was when the warning bell suddenly rang. The three of us jumped up. We had lost track of time.

“Sorry Astron, we have got to get to class.” I picked up my phone and smiled. “See you soon!” He smiled back. “Sounds good. Remember to tell me everything you find out as soon as you can.” I laughed. “I will.”

Hanging up, I slipped my phone into my bag and swung it over my shoulder. We walked together for a little while to our class, but had to split up because Denaé had Social while Amy and I had History.

We continued to our class. I thought and thought, my mind fitting all the puzzle pieces together…

We were about to enter the history classroom, when I quickly stopped Amy. “I will be right back.” I informed her, looking deep into her twin pearl eyes. “What? You will be late for class!” She said. I shushed her quickly and let go of her shoulders, stepping back.

“I know, I know. Just… cover for me. This is really important.” I smiled at her as I quickly raced away. “I think I have a lead…”
